§ 01Build · Web apps

Custom software for the bits a spreadsheet has been doing badly.

Booking systems, customer portals, internal admin tools, reporting dashboards, lightweight CRMs. Built modular, owned by you, maintained monthly so it stays working in three years.

§ 02The kinds of thing we build

If you have a process, we can probably build software for it.

A few common shapes. Yours might not fit any of these exactly. The discovery call is where we find out.

  • · 01

    Booking and scheduling

Online booking that fits how you actually work. Customer-facing calendar, staff rota, deposits, email confirmations, the lot.

Replaces: a spreadsheet, a phone book and three different group chats.

  • · 02

    Customer portals

A secure place for clients to log in and see their account, invoices, project status or files. Nicer than emailing PDFs around.

Replaces: "can you send me that thing again" emails, every Tuesday.

  • · 03

    Internal admin tools

Custom back-office software that does exactly what your team needs. Job tracking, inventory, dispatch, quotes, anything that has outgrown a spreadsheet.

Replaces: an Excel file with 47 tabs that only one person understands.

  • · 04

    Reporting dashboards

A single screen that shows the metrics that actually matter to your business, pulled from the systems you already use.

Replaces: half a day every month exporting reports from five places.

  • · 05

    Lightweight CRMs

A simple customer record system that suits your sales process, not a generic one you have to mould yourself around.

Replaces: Salesforce trials you abandoned because they were overkill.

  • · 06

    Quote and invoice tools

Custom quote generators, invoice systems and PDF builders for businesses with a non-standard pricing structure.

Replaces: Word templates, manual calculations and "I forgot to send the invoice."

§ 03How a web app project runs

Two weeks to a working prototype. Real, not Figma.

  1. 01

    Discovery

A free first call, then a paid discovery week if the project is sizeable. We sit with whoever does the job today and watch them work. The system writes itself once you understand the actual process.

  2. 02

    Prototype

Within two weeks of starting, you can click through a working prototype. Not a Figma file you have to imagine: real screens that respond. We change things based on what does not feel right.

  3. 03

    Build

Two-week sprints. End of each sprint, you see real working software and you can use it. Bugs get fixed in the next sprint. No three-month wait for a big launch.

  4. 04

    Launch

Phased if it is replacing a critical system. Parallel running, training sessions, a real rollback plan if something goes wrong. We will not just flip a switch and hope.

  5. 05

    Look after it

Monthly maintenance from £75/month covers hosting, security, backups, monitoring and small changes. You get a real person, not a ticket queue.

§ 04What we use

Boring, proven technology.

We use well-supported, well-documented tools that any other competent developer can pick up. No bespoke frameworks invented for your project.

  • 01 · FrameworkNext.jsServer-side rendering, fast loads, modern React.
  • 02 · LanguageTypeScriptCatches bugs at the keyboard, not in production.
  • 03 · DatabasePostgres or FirestoreWhichever fits the data. Both are reliable and well-supported.
  • 04 · AuthFirebase Auth or ClerkProper sign-in with MFA, recovery and audit trail.
  • 05 · HostingHandled for youSet up in your name on infrastructure that suits the project. You do not have to think about it.
  • 06 · BackupsAutomated, testedDaily backups that we have actually restored from.
§ 05Questions

Common ones from small businesses considering custom software.

  • A.01

A simple internal tool starts around £2,500. A more complex system (booking + payments + portal + admin) is typically £8,000 to £20,000. Anything bigger we will scope phase by phase rather than quote one huge number. We always give you a fixed price after the discovery call.

  • A.02

Small internal tools are six to eight weeks. Most small business web apps are eight to sixteen weeks. We aim for a working prototype in two weeks regardless, so you know you are getting something real.

  • A.03

You do. The code is stored in a private workspace under your name. If we ever stop working together, you keep everything. No hostage situation.

  • A.04

No. Everything we set up is in your name from day one, so if you ever wanted to move it elsewhere you could. Most clients leave it with us because we take care of the technical side completely and that is one less thing to think about.

  • A.05

Yes. Because we use boring, well-documented technology (Next.js, TypeScript, Postgres), any other competent developer can pick the project up. If you outgrow us, we will help you hand over.

  • A.06

Usually yes. Most modern systems (Microsoft 365, Xero, Stripe, Shopify, etc.) have APIs. For older systems without one, we sometimes build an adapter. We will tell you in discovery whether an integration is feasible and what it would cost.

§ 06 · Get in touch

Got a process that needs proper software?

A short email is enough to start. We will book a discovery call, talk through it and tell you whether we are the right people, honestly.
