A plain-English summary of how we look after your personal information.

This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • § 01 · Who we are

    Kent Tech Support (we, us) operates https://www.kenttechsupport.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information you share with us through this website, by email, by phone or during a support visit.

    You can contact us about anything in this notice via hello@kenttechsupport.co.uk.

  • § 02 · What we collect

    When you contact us, we collect:

    • your name, email, phone number (if given) and the town or area you are based in;
    • the details of what you need help with;
    • if we go on to work for you, the account, device and configuration details we need to do that work, plus the invoices and notes related to it.

    We do not collect more than we need. We do not use cookies that track you across other websites.

  • § 03 · Why we use it (lawful basis)

    We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

    • Legitimate interests: to respond to your enquiry, run a small business and prevent fraud or misuse of our service.
    • Performance of a contract: to provide the IT support you have asked for and to invoice you for it.
    • Legal obligation: to keep records required for tax and other statutory purposes.
    • Consent: where we ever ask to send you marketing or use a customer quote with attribution. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • § 04 · How long we keep it

    • Enquiry-only contacts: up to 12 months, then deleted.
    • Customer records and invoices: 6 years, in line with HMRC retention.
    • Account and device notes: for the duration of our work plus one year, then deleted.
    • Backups containing the above are overwritten on a normal rolling schedule.
  • § 05 · Who we share it with

    We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for marketing purposes. We only share it with:

    • Email and helpdesk providers we use to receive your enquiry and reply to you;
    • Microsoft and similar service providers where you have asked us to set up or administer your accounts on those services;
    • Our accountant for invoices and tax records;
    • Law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required to.
  • § 06 · International transfers

    Some of the tools we use (for example email and file storage) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on standard safeguards such as the UK addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or adequacy regulations.

  • § 07 · Your rights

    Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

    • access the personal data we hold about you;
    • ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
    • ask us to delete it, where we have no overriding reason to keep it;
    • ask us to restrict how we use it;
    • ask us to provide your data in a portable format;
    • object to processing where we rely on legitimate interests;
    • withdraw consent at any time, where we have relied on it.

    To exercise any of these, write to us via hello@kenttechsupport.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

  • § 08 · Complaints

    If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

  • § 09 · Cookies and analytics

    This website does not currently use any third-party analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this notice and ask for consent where required.
