§ 01Cybersecurity in Kent

Sensible security, without the scare tactics.

Most security problems come from missing the basics. We help homes and small businesses across Kent get the fundamentals right, in plain English, without selling you things you do not need.

§ 02The fundamentals

Six things worth getting right.

If you sort these, you have already done more than most. We help you put each one in place properly, without making a fuss.

  • · 01

    Strong sign-ins

A password manager for each person, unique passwords on every account and multi-factor authentication everywhere it matters.

  • · 02

    Up-to-date devices

Sensible update policies for laptops, desktops, phones and tablets, across Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.

  • · 03

    Backups that work

Backups for important files, mailboxes and devices, with a quick test now and then to make sure a restore would actually work.

  • · 04

    Email and phishing

Spotting phishing emails, sensible reporting, and a short briefing for staff or family on what to do when something looks off.

  • · 05

    Account recovery

Proper recovery information set up on important accounts, so you do not get locked out at the worst possible moment.

  • · 06

    Lost or stolen devices

A clear plan for when a laptop, phone or tablet goes missing, including wiping the device remotely and changing the right passwords first.

§ 03How we help

A simple, sensible review.

We take a look at your accounts, devices and habits, then write you a short, plain-English action plan. You can run with it yourself, or we can sort the bits you do not fancy doing.

  • 01Account check: passwords, MFA and recovery details
  • 02Device check: updates, encryption and antivirus
  • 03Backup check: where, how often and tested
  • 04Email check: phishing risk, signatures and forwarding rules
  • 05A short, plain-English action plan you can keep using
§ 04Cyber Essentials

A sensible certification, explained properly.

Cyber Essentials is the UK government-backed scheme that shows a small business has the basics in place. We help prepare for it without the usual consultancy fee.

§ Who needs it

  • Government contracts. Most central government tenders require it. Many councils too.
  • Cyber insurance. Insurers offer better premiums and fewer exclusions once you hold it.
  • Larger client tenders. Corporates often require it from suppliers handling their data.
  • Peace of mind. If the basics are actually in place, the worst day is much less bad.

§ What we do

  1. 1. Gap assessment. We look at where you are now against the five Cyber Essentials controls.
  2. 2. Sort the gaps. MFA, patching, boundary firewalls, access control, malware. Boring but specific.
  3. 3. Submit the questionnaire. We help fill it in properly and walk you through the certification body's process.
  4. 4. Renewal. Reminders before the annual recertification so it does not lapse quietly.

Certification itself is independent. The IASME consortium runs it under contract with the NCSC. You can also read the official overview on ncsc.gov.uk before booking a chat.

§ 05FAQs

Cybersecurity, without the fuss.

  • A.01

Not at all. Home users benefit from exactly the same basics: strong passwords, MFA on important accounts, decent backups and being able to spot a phishing email.

  • A.02

Usually not. Most security wins come from getting the basics right, rather than buying more software. Windows and macOS come with sensible built-in protections that we configure properly.

  • A.03

  • A.04

Get in touch quickly. We help you respond calmly: change passwords in the right order, secure accounts, check devices, review what was actually accessed, and document what happened so you have a record.

  • A.05

No. That is a specialist field and you want a dedicated firm for it. We focus on the practical foundations that prevent the vast majority of small business security problems in the first place.
